Safety Tips

Don't be a crime of opportunity ! Check out these Safety Tips*:
  • Make sure to use your locks and lock your windows and doors. Install deadbolt locks on all your outside doors. Most burglars enter your home though your doors and windows, and many times there is nothing there to deter them.
  • Eliminate any “secret” entrances to your home, such as unlocked windows and hidden keys, If you can break in, so can a burglar.
  • Use bright outdoor lighting. A motion-sensitive light is ideal for fenced backyards.
  • Take care of your yard and bushes, homes that look unattended may appear that no one is home.
  • Invest in an alarm and post warning decals or yard signs. If you have an alarm system, use it!!!
  • Get to know your neighbors, maybe create a neighborhood crime watch.
  • Make sure to answer the door or tell the person to go away----- many time burglars will knock and then enter.
  • Take pictures or videotape all of your valuables and store them in a safe deposit box. This will make the identification process much easier should a burglary occur. We can recommend a local service, if interested contact us.

New Trend

Bumping- The National Crime Prevention Council states that ordinary door locks may not be as good as you think. Thieves have learned a new technique called bumping. The only thing needed is a bump key which is designed to pick the lock. Unfortunately, when the bump key is used there aren't any signs of forced entry or break-in.
